Obituary

Shirley Ann Halliday, 91, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed from this life on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach.

Born on November 17, 1931, in Galeton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Veronica M. (Shalkowski) Sirianni.  Her husband, Robert "Doc" Halliday, preceded her in death in 2006.

Shirley had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1972, having relocated from Binghamton, New York with her husband and three children.  In Binghamton, she worked in marketing for Link Division of the Singer Company on such projects as the Apollo Space Program and Man in the Sea Program.  While in Vero Beach, she was employed as the office Manager and Secretary with FlightSafely International for 12 years; associated with students and personnel from all over the world, assisting with their social, academic and housing needs.  In 1989, she received her Realtor License and continued to work until 2021.

She was a member of the Realtors Association of Indian River County, the Florida Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors.  She had also been a member (and active fundraiser) with the Pilot Club of Vero Beach since 1980, serving as President from 1986-87 and 2002-2003.  Shirley also contributed to the Big Brothers and Sisters of Indian River County through mentoring in the public school system.   Additionally, she was a member of the Treasure Coast Rock & Gem Society, having served as president in 1995.  She also enjoyed golf, traveling, as well as rocks and minerals collection and identification.

Shirley had been active with St. Helen Catholic Church where she worked with adults and children and the Neighborhood Apostolate Program.  Later in her life she attended Mass at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

She is survived by her two daughters, Beth (Dale) Moyers of Roanoke, West Virginia, and Kim (Kerry) Smith of Sarasota, Florida; and one son Robert (Kimberly) Halliday, of Vero Beach.  Additionally she is survived by her grandson Adam and his wife Angelica, and her two great grandchildren, Aaron and Jovana.
