Sophia Sofronas Johnson of Vero Beach, Florida fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on January 18th, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was 86 years old.

Sophia was born in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Pota (Moumousis) Sofronas and Anastasios Georgios Sofronas

Sophia was a graduate of Lasell College in Newton, MA.
She married Andrew Louis Johnson(Janopoulos) in 1959 and lived in Dedham, MA for 30+ years and was very active with many civic, social and religious activities. She was elected to the Dedham Library Board of Trustees, created the "Friends of the Maliotis Cultural Center" on the Campus of Hellenic College/Holy Cross Seminary in Brookline, MA. Sophia was an active Philoptochos member at the Cathedral in Boston and St. Demetrios in Weston, MA.

Sophia and Andrew permanently moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1998 after 10+ years of being dedicated snowbirds.
Active with the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Pierce, Florida, in 2002 she created the St. Nicholas Bookstore in memory of her mother Pota (Panagiota) Sofronas. In 2007 she was awarded the Archangel Michael Honors Award from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta. Always involved in the world around her she made time for her abstract oil paintings.

Survived by her two daughters Jennifer Constantin of Scarsdale, NY and Andrea Johnson Bernard of Vero Beach, FL, a sister Presvytera Emilia Sofronas Metallinos of Rocky River, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Alexander and Andrew Constantin of Scarsdale, NY and Justine and Michael Johnson of Vero Beach, FL.

Andrew, her loving husband of 50 years passed away on January 16th, 2010 surrounded by his family and her brother George Sofronas passed away on May 6, 2010.
