IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen J
Fisk
April 24, 1944 – September 13, 2021
Stephen Fisk, 77, of Vero Beach, went home to be with God on Monday, September 13, 2021. He was born to the late Ward and Gladys Fisk on April, 24, 1944, in Beech Grove, Indiana. Stephen graduated from North Central High School in 1961 and went on to earn his Associates Degree in Labor Studies from Indiana University.
Stephen was a man that loved his Country, proudly and selflessly serving for 8 years active duty in the United States Air Force. He followed with many more years of service in the United States Army Reserve. He worked a long and rewarding career with Indianapolis Power & Light managing Labor Relations until his retirement. Stephen was defined by much more than his career. In fact, in the early 60's he competed in roller skating competitions throughout the U.S., winning numerous medals at the American Amateur Roller-Skating championships.
Stephen met the love of his life, Pauline Fisk, in Indianapolis. Married at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis in 1980, Stephen and Pauline shared a special love, lived many adventures, and made beautiful memories together throughout their long marriage.
Stephen was a man after God's own heart. Stephen loved God, his Country, his beautiful wife, and his large family. He was a kind and generous man who blessed many with his numerous talents. Stephen was many things to many different people, and left a lasting impression on everyone that he met. Stephen was a loving husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a mentor, an advisor, and a friend.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Pauline, and is survived by his children: Deborah (Fisk) Brown and her husband Greg; Michael Fisk and his wife Betsy Fisk, their children Taylor Vanover and Austin Vanover, and Taylor's daughter, Brooklynn; Angelique Lynch; Christine Spenik and her husband Adam, and their children, Jessica, Sarah and Luke; Larry Lynch and his children, Terra Lynch, Peyton Lynch, Madison Little, and Macy Lynch, and Madison's daughter, Charlotte; Rebecca (Lynch) Gordon and her husband Jeff, and their daughters Cathleen and Olivia; and Elizabeth (Fisk) Neher and her husband Darryl. Stephen is also survived by his brother, David Fisk. He is preceded in death by his mother and his father, Gladys Marie Fisk (Setty) and Ward Francis Fisk, his sister, Kay Francis (Fisk)Goodwin, his grandson, Patrick Fisk and his great-grandson, Austyn Walburn. His loss is one that is felt so deep in all of our hearts.
We would trade nothing in this world for the many moments and memories we as a family shared with Stephen over the years. Stephen was an amazing man and loved and lived in a way we should all learn from.
Our hearts broke when God took him home, but now, we all feel a little closer to heaven because we know Stephen is there, watching over his family and friends, as he did throughout his life.
We promise to hold you close to our hearts always, and always let your influence shine through in our daily life. Stephen, you have forever changed those lucky enough to know and love you and we take comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye, but only see you later.
A viewing will take place Friday, September 17th at the Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home at 3:00- 5:00pm with service following. Reception will be held at the Lakewood Village Clubhouse 1455 90th Ave., Vero Beach.
God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
