Stuart Greene Leonard, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully, on March 30, 2018, after a lengthy illness. He was under the wonderful care at Indian River Medical Center.
He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on July 7, 1929 but spent his early years in Springfield, VT where he graduated high school. He was very close to his sister, the late Sibyl Emerson, and his nephews Russell, Don, Jon, and Barry Emerson and his niece, Candice McInerney.
Stuart graduated from Worcester Polytech in 1950 and went on to serve in the Army at Fort Belvoir, VA where he was involved in the Korean Conflict and spent much of his service working at the Pentagon as an electoral engineer. After the Army he was hired by AT&T/New England Bell Telephone and remained with them until his retirement in 1983 after the divesture of AT&T. He then became a realtor for The Prudential Real Estate Group in Wayland, MA until moving to Delray Beach, FL in 1999 and later to Vero Beach, FL in 2007, where he resided until his death.
Stuart was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Anne E. Johnson and oldest daughter, Lorene A Wolf. He is survived by his daughter, Karen L. Kortes of Rockwall, TX and son, Gary P. Leonard and wife Cindy of Wayland, MA. He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Carl "CJ" Kortes and wife, Bella, John L. Kortes and wife Bailee Ann, all of Texas, Grandson's Christopher E. Wolf and wife Hannah, and Griffin M. Wolf all of North Carolina, as well as granddaughter, Dr. Vanessa L. Wolf of PA. He also took great pride in becoming a great grandfather to Foster K. Kortes of TX in Dec 2016.
Stuart is also survived by his partner of 24 years, Carolyn Curley of Vero Beach, FL, her son, Jeffrey, daughter, Pam, and their 5 children, Christopher, Erica, Ryan, Kyle, and Skylar. With his kind, caring, easy going nature, he was loved by so many. This Includes 40 nieces & nephews, his beloved sister in laws, Janice Sweeney and Nancy O'Connor, and her husband, and great friend, Bill O'Connor.
A memorial service will be held in early summer at Grove Cemetary in Holden, MA. More details will be completed soon.
