Feron, Sunny Sue Lewis of Port St. Lucie, FL. died Saturday (January 24th, 2009) at Tiffany Hall Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born April 8, 1932 in West Palm Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her parents, Penelope Earle Funnelle Cooney, Curtis Gage Lewis, and Stepfather John (Jack) Peter Cooney
At the age of 6, Sue moved to Manchester, CT. where she attended school and graduated in 1950. In 1955 she moved to Windsor Locks, CT. She was a co-founder of the Windsor Locks Womens Club, past member of the womens auxiliary fire department and the womens auxiliary American Legion Post 36. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and sponsored, a girl guide from Tanzania in her home. Sue and some of her scouts transcribed books into Braille for the CT. Institute for The Blind/Oak Hill
Sue was a Cub Scout Den Mother in Wilmington, VT., where she lived for a short time. She was co-owner of Whitingham Farms formally (Sky Farm) in Whitingham, VT.
She moved to Simsbury CT in 1972. She was co-owner of New England Structural Inc. Simsbury, and was a volunteer with the Suicide Prevention Hotline.
Sue moved to Port St. Lucie, FL. in 1985. She was a member American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 318. Sue pursued her passion and became a Master Gardner thru the cooperative extension program in Port St. Lucie. and enjoyed her retirement with family and friends.
She enjoyed amateur photography in HS spending time with family, cooking, working on genealogy, skiing (chauffer), boating and family reunions in Lake George, NY.
Sue was predeceased by her husband of 56 years: Robert E. Feron Sr, her sons: Robert E. Feron Jr. and Stephen Feron. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Brayton and her significant other Tom Lee of Queensbury, NY; Kathryn Rittlinger and her husband Brian of Longwood, FL, Kelly Gwillim and her husband Bob of Bristol, CT; her sons: Scott Feron of West Suffield, CT, and Patrick Feron and his wife Lori or North Granby, CT., brothers Arthur (Lucille) Cooney of Cold Springs, KY and David (Lauren) Cooney of Portland, OR., 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 nephews and a niece. She is also survived y her closest friends for over 50 years, Pat and Bill Staley of Windsor Locks CT, and many other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank all Sues doctors, nurses, aids and the hospice staff and volunteers at Tiffany Hall Nursing home for her care over the last 22 months.
