Susan Elizabeth Aitken was born on the Summer Solstice - June 21st, 1937 - in Philadelphia, PA. She completed secondary education in Springfield, OH and went on to graduate with a MS from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She found deep reward in her career as a Speech Pathologist, helping hearing-impaired children in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Springfield, and Fort Lauderdale.
Susan retired in 1993 to take care of her ailing father. She served for many years as the Secretary in her neighborhood homeowners association; it was often said, "If no one knows, ask Susan, she'll know!" She enjoyed walking the beach and interacting with her neighbors and her dachshund.
On August 30th, after a battle with cancer, she passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She leaves behind her brother, Milt Aitken, her niece, Martha Robinson, both of Columbia County, FL, a nephew, Milton Aitken of Marietta, GA, six grand nieces & nephews, as well as her loyal dachshund, Snoopy who was by her side at the end.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Vero Beach on September 9, 2017.
