Obituary

Suzanne Trevathan Lieske passed away peacefully July 30, 2026, at the age of 83.

Suzanne was born April 3,1943 in Charleston, South Carolina to Louis and Jacqueline Trevathan. As the daughter of a career Army officer, she spent her childhood living around the world, including Japan, Panama, Germany and Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated high school in Atlanta before attending Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where she earned a degree in education.

After college, Suzanne began her teaching career at an elementary school in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was there that she met the love of her life, Harvey Lieske. After several years of dating, they were married on April 7, 1967, beginning a marriage that spanned nearly six decades.

As Harvey served in the U.S. Navy, the family lived in several locations over the years. They first moved to Meridian, Mississippi where their son Scott was born in November 1968. They later relocated to Albany, Georgia where their son Sean was born in May 1970. Following a couple of stints in Virginia and time in Ohio, the family settled in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1983. After 40 wonderful years there, Suzanne and Harvey moved to Vero Beach, Florida to be closer to family.

Suzanne’s greatest joy was her family. She delighted in watching her children and grandchildren grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She also found great comfort and fulfillment in reading, and in deepening her Christian faith. An avid reader and dedicated student of the Bible, Suzanne was an active participant in Christian Women’s Club and member of her church community, where she formed lasting friendships and quietly lived out her faith through kindness, compassion, and service to others.

Those who knew Suzanne will remember her gentle spirit, thoughtful heart, and steady presence. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, and her love was evident in both the simple everyday moments and life’s most meaningful celebrations.

Suzanne is survived by her beloved husband Harvey Lieske; her sons Scott and Sean Lieske; her daughters-in-law Sara and Nanette; and her cherished grandchildren Aiden, Sierra, and Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Jacqueline Trevathan, and her brother, Louis “Buzz” Trevathan.

Though she will be deeply missed, Suzanne leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, and devotion to her family that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
