Sylvia R. Bigbee, age 96, died Saturday , May 7, 2011, at Raulerson Hospital. Formerly of Miami, she relocated to the Okeechobee area after retiring from Bell South Telephone Company as an overseas operator. During WWII she was supervisor of the airplane mechanics at Miami International Airport. After WWII ended, she was a jitney driver driver in Miami.
She loved to travel, fish, and dance, dance, dance. Table games were a favorite of hers especially dominos, and any type of card game.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rex.
Survivors include her son Jimmy (Helen) Campbell; grandson, Jimmy (Kimberly) Campbell II; granddaughter, S. Kandesse Kandee Campbell; great-grandchildren, Jacob Jake Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Erika Pitts, Adam (Stephanie) Pitts, Amelia (Steven) Pitts, Kimberly Afton (Gerald) Pitts; and great-great-grandchildren, Chandler Pitts and Hayden Bates.
Visitation will be held, May 13, 2011, at Buxton-Seawinds Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. with the funeral service on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
