Theodore William Hakim,79 died at VNA Hospice House on Monday, November 14, 2011.

Ted was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1932. He graduated from Manual Training High School and attended The George Washington University in DC. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion in Vero Beach.

He is survived by a son, Bruce Hakim (Mary) of East Grand Rapids, MI., a daughter, Carla O'Brien (Eric) of Round Hill VA., and six grandchildren, Tyler and Andrew Hakim and Luke, Shay, Blake and Sam O'Brien as well as his partner in life Phyllis A. Taylor.

After a long career in sales and marketing, first for P. Ballantine and Sons of Newark NJ., brewers of beer and ale, and later for Everest and Jennings, manufacturers of wheel chairs and other assistive devices, Ted retired to St. Mary's County MD, and finally in 2001 to Vero Beach. He had a life-long interest in the performing arts and was well known as an accomplished singer, actor, story teller and entertainer. During his years in Vero Beach he volunteered with the Theater Guild both on and off stage. He was a member of the NRA, The American Legion and The Medical Center Auxiliary.
