Theodore R. Thomson, Jr. 69, of Vista Gardens, Vero Beach, FL died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Indian River Medical Center after a prolonged illness.
Mr. Thomson was born June 23, 1939 in Merrick, Long Island, NY and moved to Vero Beach 15 years ago from Scotia, NY.
He was a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island where he lettered in track, wrestling and football. He wrestled and played football at Ithaca College where he earned his BS in Physical Education. Mr. Thomson be came the Linton High School of Schenectady, NY Wrestling Coach in 1964, an assistant football coach in 1966 and varsity football coach from 1973 - 1979.. In 1979 he was hired as the Athletic Director of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY.. Mr. Thomson served as the Section II Football Chairman and on the Executive Committee until he retired in 1997. He served as Vice President of the Vista Gardens Board of Directors.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Sally Ann Powers Thomson of Vero Beach; two sons Theodore S. Thomson and Daniel J. Thomson of Scotia, NY; two brothers John Thomson of Oakland, CA and Tim Thomson of Boca Raton, FL; sister Peg Mann of Charlottesville, VA; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Thomas Powers Thomson and his parents Captain Theodore R. and Edna Jones Thomson, Sr.
Services: The family will receive friends 4-6 PM, Monday, November 3, 1008 at the Vista Gardens Clubhouse in Vero Beach.
