IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Theodore "Ted"
Wolfin Dyer
January 1, 1954 – December 6, 2020
Theodore "Ted" Wolfin Dyer, 66, of Sebastian, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Landstuhl, Germany on January 1, 1954 to the late Col. Frederick Dyer and Dorothy Cain Dyer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cindy Dyer of Sebastian; children, Geoffrey Dyer and wife Lori of Calgary Alberta, Canada, Jennifer Grimm and husband Jay of Denver, Colorado, Gregory Dyer and wife Joan of Columbia, Missouri, and Garrett Dyer and wife Emma of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Charles, Ellison, Anaba, Alice, Miles, Jacob and one on the way; two sisters, Kathy Riley and husband Bruce of Morrison, Colorado, and Annette Dobias in the UK; one brother, Jim Dyer and wife Donna of Utah; brother-in-law Tom Hueston and wife Pat of Colorado and one sister-in-law, Mickey Chacon of Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He loved them all.
Ted was a learned man with so many talents. He graduated from Metropolitan State University in Denver with a BA in Chemistry and English literature. He also earned his Masters in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland.
He worked for many companies throughout his career and was most recently the Health, Safety and Environmental (EHS) Senior manager at Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach Florida. Piper became an important part of his life and he made many lifetime friends.
Ted became a volunteer fireman and fire investigator for Boone County Fire Protection District while living in Missouri. A time in his life he held close to his heart making many friends and family in that brotherhood.
Ted lived life with a passion and vengeance.
He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist as well as many other instruments throughout his life. He shared his love of music with all of his children and they had many great impromptu concerts. He also loved working with his hands and built guitars, mandolins, furniture, and black powder firearms. He was interested in astronomy and built an observatory while in Colorado.
Never satisfied on the sidelines, he built and raced late model stock cars and sprint cars. Ted also owned and flew his own planes, three of them being Pipers. Being full of adventure, he and his wife Cindy would travel to out of the way places, mostly in the western parts of the US. His children also accompanied him on some of his adventures.
His desire to do and be as many things as possible was insatiable. He accomplished so much in his life. He was a hockey goalie, sabre fencer, hunter, airplane pilot, fisherman, motorcyclist, car enthusiast and environmentalist just to name some of them.
Ted was most proud of his children who shared many of his talents with him. Though he lived far from them, he treasured every minute he was blessed with.
Ted was a true child of God and loved people. He saw the talents in others and set out to help them realize their potential and learning so much along the way.
Abraham Lincoln said: "It's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years." A better student there never was.
He will always be in our hearts.
