Obituary

Thomas Lathrop Chadwick, 84, of Vero Beach, died August 25, 2011.

He was born February 14, 1927 in Worchester, MA. He graduated from Reading High School in 1944. He has been a resident of Vero Beach since 24 years, coming from Big Pine Key, FL.

He joined the Merchant Marines, and graduated from Gallops Island Radio School. Sailed as Radio Operator on various ships all over the world until 1951. Joined the US Army and served 4 years, 2 in Korea. He later joined the CIA, and served all over the world with tours in Taiwan, Japan, Iran, Ghana, New Deli, South America and Africa.

He was a member of the Vero Beach & Sebastian River Power Squadrons, Indian River Travel Professionals, American Legion, the Eagles, and the Ernest Hemingway Look Alike Society.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Barbara; daughter, Colette Colby of Spencerport, NY; son, Marc Chadwick of South Riding, VA; sister, Elizabeth Smith of Durango, CO; former wife, Patricia Cooney; and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Druid.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hemingway Scholarship Society to 14 Terhune Drive, Phippsburg, ME 04562, c/o Dr. Susan F. Beegel at the The Hemingway Review.

Service: A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
