Dr. Thomas I. Longworth of Vero Beach, FL died Wednesday, March 4th, 2008 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach after an extended illness.
He was born on November 4, 1926 in Rockville Centre, NY. He was a winter resident of Vero Beach for the past 23 years coming from New London, NH..
Prior to his retirement he was the Chief of surgery at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, NY, President of the staff and Chief of the Ambulatory Surgery.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
He was a former member at the Hawk Nest Golf Club and the Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, NH. He is a member of the Sea Oaks Beach and Tennis Club in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Patricia Longworth of Vero Beach; sons David Longworth of Millburn, NJ, Christopher Longworth of Melbourne, FL, Stephen Longworth of Montclair, NJ, Gregory Longworth of Irving, TX and Matthew Longworth of Vero Beach; daughter Caroline Drew of West wood, MA; sister Carol Fitzgerald of Cummings, GA; grandchildren Vanessa, Patrick, Kaitlin, Charlotte, Holly, Nicholas, Katie, Lauren, Jake and Kelly.
Services: The family will receive friends 3-5 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Burial will be in the New London Cemetery in New London, NH.
