Obit: Thomas E. OBrien
Thomas E. O'Brien of Fort Pierce, Florida, died January 9th after a long illness.
Mr. OBrien was born March 21, 1927 in Ashland, Pennsylvania and moved to Vero Beach in 1996 from Larchmont, NY.
He was a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point NY (class of 1944 - the last of the wartime cadets), Georgetown University Schools of Foreign Service and Law, and was a Commander in the US Naval Reserve, having served in the Korean conflict. Before retiring Tom had been an attorney in private practice in Manhattan, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Queens. Among his favorite work was serving as the attorney for two USMMA-sponsored 12-Metre America's Cup Syndicates - Courageous and America II.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Margaret Attwood O'Brien of Salisbury CT and Catherine O'Brien Yaffa, her husband Richard and their two children Jessica Gould Yaffa and Douglas Charles Yaffa of Harrison NY and by his former wife Patricia Gould O'Brien (Patty) of Larchmont NY.
Burial at sea in Florida was private.
