Obituary

Virgie I. Futch, 96 passed away peacefully at Atlantic Healthcare in Vero Beach, FL on October 10, 2016. One of 3 children, she was born on May 16, 1920 in Lamont, FL. Virgie lived most of her early years in the Cocoa, FL area where she met and married her first and only love, Charles Lawrence Futch, who predeceased her July 3, 2007. Married 70 years, their love for one another was evident throughout their lifetime. In 1945 they moved to their home on Jungle Trail, then to their residence on US1, Wabaasso.

Virgie is survived by her children, Larry Futch of Ft. Pierce, Wayne Futch of Sebastian, Joyce Morris, Elaine Balkwill and Karen Sweeney of Vero Beach; 14 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren.

As a member of the Church of God for 65 years, Virgie served in nursing home and women's ministries. Mr. & Mrs. Futch attended the Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach. She was employed by Graves Brothers for 12 years and Hale Groves for 28 years until retirement.

Family was an important part of Virgie's life. She cared for her mother and mother-in-law throughout their elder years until they passed. She suffered a stroke in 1995 which left her disabled. Grateful that she never lost her speech, Virgie and Charles pressed on with the strength of their unwavering Christian faith and the encouragement of family and friends as she fought to walk again. The following 21 years proved to be challenging especially in her elder years.

Virgie was a devoted woman of prayer. Her love for Jesus was evident in her everyday life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a wonderful mother and daughter and faithful friend. She leaves a wonderful legacy of faith, hope and love. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord the Righteous Judge will give to me on that Day.....". 2 Timothy 4:7-8. Virgie has walked through Heavens gates of pearl, no longer wheelchair bound and walks on streets of gold as she is finally home, united with her husband who loved her dearly. She is sincerely loved and dearly missed until we meet again. In Loving Memory, her Children, Family and Friends.

Special thanks to those who genuinely cared for our mother with concern and compassion at the Atlantic Healthcare nursing home in Vero Beach.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.
