April 28, 1928 – February 21, 2026
Virginia was 97 years young and born on April 28,1928 in Detroit, Michigan to Jennie and Paul Hunchik. Virginia was pre-deceased by her parents, her baby brother, William Hunchik and her husband, James Robert "Bob" Adams.
Virginia graduated in June,1946 from John J. Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan and worked as a secretary for seven years after high school. She traveled to Florida and met her future husband, U.S. Navy Sailor James Robert "Bob" Adams, in Key West, Florida. They were married in Detroit, Michigan on October 24, 1953. After their marriage they moved to Orlando, Florida. Bob worked as a meat cutter and meat manager for Publix Supermarkets. They also lived in Hialeah, Florida prior to moving to Vero Beach, Florida in 1967.
Virginia was a homemaker, an avid reader, loved to travel especially on cruises. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her four children; Susan Marie Adams Thigpen of Vero Beach, FL, Deborah Jean Adams Peterson of Sellersberg, IN, Thomas Paul Adams of Ocala, FL, and Teresa Diane Adams Jones of Newnan, GA; 14 grandchildren; Jennifer Thigpen Bommarito, Brenda Thigpen Norquist, Ryan Thigpen, Brian Peterson, Brett Peterson, Brandon Peterson, Nicole Adams, Tiffany Adams, Tommy Adams Il, Colton Adams, Ericka Catterson Jacobs, Nick Catterson, William Maynard and Zachary Maynard and 11 great-grandchildren; Austin and Avery Bommarito, Logan and Riley Norquist, Taylor and Leah Thigpen, Haisley Virginia and Brynley Jacobs, Theodore Catterson and Liam and Declan Maynard.
Virginia will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-3pm, Monday, March 2, 2026 at Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A Prayer service will be said at 3pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.
