Virginia L. Cassels, age 76, died Sun., Dec. 19, 2010, at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman, Georgia. She was born May 13, 1934, to Horace Fred Thomas and Julia N. Mixon in Highlands County.
While living in Okeechobee she was employed by the Okeechobee County School System as a lunch room manager and she attended the Church of God.
She enjoyed sewing, listening to blue grass music, and going to yard sales.
It was her tradition and act of love to crochet a blanket for the birth of each grandchild and great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Audrey Cassels. Survivors include her son H. Dean (Donna) Cassels of Lake Placid; daughters, Beverly (Chris) Burch of Chauncey, Ga., Pamela ( Rick) Grimsley of Helena, Ga., Teri Mixon Garcia of Okeechobee; brothers, Gordon (Lynn) Thomas and Arthur (Geri) Thomas, both of Okeechobee; sisters, Frances (Kenneth) Matthews of Athens, Ga., Lou Ann (Donald) Sutton of Alva, Fla.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wed., Dec. 22, at Buxton-Seawinds Chapel at Abundant Blessings Church from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held Thurs., Dec. 23, at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
