Obituary

Walta Nason, affectionately known as Tinky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 29, 2014.

Tinky, the youngest of a family of five daughters, was born on September 13, 1930 in Plant City, Florida. In 1954, she married Richard Nason, Sr., who was her best friend and companion for nearly 50 years until his passing in 2003. Tinky and Richard made their first home in Pahokee, Florida where they raised their three children - sons, Richard, Jr and Jay, and daughter, Sandy.

Tinky was a teacher for many years and later a principal at Glades Day School in Belle Glade, Florida. She was a devoted educator and supporter of the Glades Day Gators, often travelling the state to attend the school's athletic events.

In 1989, she moved with her husband to Vero Beach, Florida where they owned and operated Freedom Travel, Inc. for a number of years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach.

She had a passion for reading and was an avid football fan, but first and foremost was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother - roles she truly loved.

She is survived by her loving sister, Hilda Hull Wilkinson, of Pahokee, Florida, her three children, Richard Nason, Jr, Jay Nason and Sandy Beasley, her daughter-in-law, Griselda Nason, son-in-law, Walter Beasley, seven grandchildren, Jay Jr, and Chad Nason, Beau, Matthew, David, Tom and Jenna Beasley, and three great grandchildren, Hunter, Caitlyn and Madison Beasley, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cox Giffford Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00pm at Port Mayaca Cemetery in Port Mayaca, Florida
