Walter James Brown, 85 of Vero Beach, passed away on December 19, 2015 at Indian River Medical Center. He was born on November 3, 1930 in Queens, NY and resided in New York most of his life, attending Parochial School and going on to Plattsburgh University. "Wally Hollywood" as he was referred to, spent 20 years as a fireman for New York City Ladder 8, and retired from there. He served in the US Armed Forces, and was a Korean War Vet, receiving 2 Bronze Stars.
A resident o Vero Beach for the last 2 years, he relocated here form Bayport, NY, and attended St. Helen Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores; daughters, Joann Brown of Vero Beach and Carolyn Boeckmann of New York; grandchildren, Katherine, James, Katie and Becky; brother, William of New York, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 St. Helen Catholic Church. Interment and Military Honors will be held at 9:45 AM, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
