Walter Joseph Skiscim, a proud member of the Greatest Generation, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, at the age of 99. Born in Throop, PA, he dedicated his life to family, community, and service.

Walter joined the Navy in 1944 and was stationed in Vero Beach, where he met the love of his life, Mary Anne Maher. They married in 1946 at St. Helen Catholic Church, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion. Walter owned and operated Skiscim Camera Store, a beloved fixture in downtown Vero Beach, and was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church.

His passions extended beyond business; he was a Scout Leader for Troop 503, enjoyed fishing, carpentry, gardening, and even beekeeping. Walter raised seven children, instilling in them the values of hard work and community service.

He is survived by his children: Trudy Dulmage (Rob), Patty Flemming (Lee), Margy Moore (deceased, Brooke), Anne Walters (David), Michael (deceased, Gloria), Toni Flaherty (Bob), and Liz Singleton (Bryan). Walter cherished his 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Helen Catholic Church, followed by interment with military honors at Crestlawn Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Deacon Dave Hankle, Carol Workman, Kim Dicamillo, Jan Shepherd, and Lesley Shuler for their compassionate care of their sweet father..
