William Elliot Abbott, age 85, of Vero Beach, Fl, passed away on April 11, 2026 at home surrounded by his wife, children and family.

He was born on October 6, 1940 in Brunswick, GA to Doris Jean Dailey and Lewis Abbott. 

Bill was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor, which he shared generously with everyone around him. Above all else, he cherished his family and found his greatest happiness in time spent with his beloved wife of 45 years, children and grandchildren. A lifelong dog lover, Bill had a special soft spot for canine companions, especially his dog Lily, and spent the last years enjoying his time at the local dog park.

He is survived by wife, Rebecca Abbott; children, William Abbott Jr (Lisa), Rebecca Ellis (Chris), Jason Abbott (Valorie), Katie Turner and Cathy Shouse (Dennis); grandchildren Jonathan Shouse, Dustin Shouse, Christopher Shouse, Timothy Abbott (Savana), MathewAbbott (Kelsey), Lauren Ellis, Devon Ellis (Missy), Sydney Ellis, Kennedy Turner, Beckett Turner, Eloise Turner, Lincoln Abbott, Evelynn Abbott; 8 great grandchildren; siblings Ronald Abbott, Michael Abbott and Holly Brown.

He was preceded in death by mother, Doris Abbott; father, Lewis Abbott; and daughter, Michelle Lynn Abbott.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 3pm at CoxGifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Reception to follow at the Abbott home.
