William David Carpenter, 90, formerly of Vero Beach joined his wife in heaven on November 22, 2020. He was under hospice care with Suncoast Hospice of Pinellas County and the care of the assisted living memory care unit at Princeton Village of Largo, FL.

Dave was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 4, 1930 to William Dean and Emma Hoyer Carpenter. He was a student at Germantown Academy from first grade until graduation in 1948. He graduated from Penn State University in 1952 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He served in the US Army during the Korean War years in Dothan, Alabama where he met and married Suzanne Wilder in 1955.

Dave worked as a civil engineer for the US Dept of Agriculture/Soil Conservation Service until he retired in 1985. His job took him to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; East Lansing, Michigan; and Bowie, Maryland. He had many close friends in each state. While in Michigan, he enjoyed attending MSU football and basketball games.

David and Suzanne had over 30 years of retirement in Vero Beach. He loved to play tennis, and fish and they had season tickets for the Vero Beach Dodgers' games. He worked for several years at H&R Block in Vero Beach. Dave was an active member at Community Church in Vero Beach.

Dave and Suzanne loved to travel during their retirement years. They visited many parts of the US including Alaska and Hawaii, New York City and many of the national parks in the Western parts of the country. They also traveled to Ireland, Greece and Italy. Dave resided at Sonata Senior Living for about 18 months before he moved closer to George and Donna in Largo, FL this past summer.

Suzanne went to heaven in July 2019. His sister, Barbara Fillman joined them in heaven on November 28 , 2020. Dave is survived by his children: Linda (Robert) Sausser; George (Donna) Carpenter; Grandchildren: Jonathan (Kristin) Sausser, Joseph (Katelyn) Sausser, Jason (Lindsey) Sausser; Nicole Carpenter and Jacob Carpenter. Great-grandchildren: Caleb, Ava, and Mya Sausser, and Theadosia
Sausser.

Memorial services will be Monday, January 25th, 11:00 a.m. in Crestlawn Cemetery.
