William F. Powers, 85, of Vero Beach died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Mr. Powers was born October 16, 1926 in New York, NY. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for 16 years, coming from East Brunswick, NJ.
He served in the United States Army as a B.A.R. carrier during WWII.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a mechanic.
He was a life member of the East Brunswick Independent Fire Company.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Gloria Powers; sons Thomas J. Powers of Chester, VA and William A. Powers of Vero Beach, FL; brothers Francis Powers of New York City, NY and John Powers of Gainesville, NY; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St Jude Place

Services: A visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Saint Helen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
