William Wendell Meek's Obituary
William Wendell Meek, 94, of Vero Beach, FL died Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Indian River Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Meek was born December 15, 1914 in St Jo, TX and moved to Vero Beach 3 years ago from Fort Pierce, FL.
Prior to his retirement he was the Director of Budget and Finance, Department of State in Washington, DC.
Mr. Meek served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a Methodist and an avid golfer and enjoyed billiards.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Cleo Meek of Vero Beach; son, David Meek of Sebastian, FL; daughters Phyllis Adamson of Calamus, Iowa, Melinda Smoldt of Reinbeck, Iowa; Dana Caldwell of Cypress, TX and Suzanne Foxman of Oakland, CA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his brother, Joe Field Meek.
Services: A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to ones favorite charity.
