William W. Pinkel, 85, died on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born August 31, 1924 in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Pinkel graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He was a three year veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific Theater with the 20th Air Force. He was the Executive Director of the National Newman Club Federation in Washington, D.C. He served for nine years as a Special Agent with the FBI in the Knoxville, Tennessee and New York City offices. He retired in 1986 as Executive Vice President of the American Cancer Society, New York State Division, Syracuse, NY.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and St. John of the Cross Catholic Church of Vero Beach, the Vero Beach Country Club and former member of the Skaneateles Country Club. He was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Inc. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and VNA/Hospice in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children, Joan, William, Jr., and Deborah, a sister, Bette Donovan of Buffalo, NY and eleven grandchildren. A daughter, Susan, predeceased him.
A Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL.
