William Eugene "Bill/Billy" Scovers, 78 of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 while at home. He was born May 18, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to the late William and Mary (Gwozdz) Scovers. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for the last nineteen years coming from Fairfax, Virginia and Yonkers, New York. In 1954, he began service with the Air National Guard for six years and completed two more with the Air Force Reserve as part of the fire protection squadron. For 34 years, Bill was employed by Mobil Oil holding many positions and retiring as chief photographer. He enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia (Brooklyn Dodgers and NY Mets), gardening, photography and travelling.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn (Collins) Scovers. He is survived by his children: Karen (Thomas) Amato of Hopewell Junction, NY, Alison (Garry) Sealock and grandsons Brady, Gavin and Nolan of Centreville, VA and Jason (Robin) Barrett and granddaughters Elizabeth, Danielle and predeceased Lauren of Poughkeepsie, NY. His sister Joan (Scovers) Sego and nephew Brett Sego of Raynham, MA also survive along with numerous relatives. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will greatly miss him.
