William "Bill" H Wahl Jr, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 at VNA Hospice House, he was 88. Bill was born in Glen Ridge, NJ on November 8th, 1928 to William and Elizabeth Wahl. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Guam, and after being honorably discharged went on to Seton Hall University. Between studies he was a DJ for the college radio station and broadcasted a live show from the Silver Saddle in Newark, NJ. "Bill's Blue's Room" and music would continue to be an important source of enjoyment throughout his life. He graduated in 1951 with a BA in Advertising and then began his career at the Miami News and Herald from 1952 through 1973 as Manager of Circulation and Distribution. He went on to work with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Gannet Newspaper Company where in 1982 he was part of the launch of the USA Today covering 10 states.
Bill was married to Dorothy "Jane" Zinis on June 14th, 1952, and they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. Jane was truly the love of his life, and often referred to her as "pretty lady" all throughout their marriage.
Bill lived a long life and enjoyed many activities, which included golf, tennis, going to the beach, listening to local live music and especially following his team, the Miami Dolphins, while in the early years attending many games at the Orange Bowl with his family in tow.
Bill is survived by his wife Jane; his children, William H. Wahl III, Lisa (Joe) Padgett, Tom (Cynthia) Wahl and Mark Wahl; grandchildren, Shannon, Brandon and Eric; great grandchildren, Devinne, Kayla, Zoey and Elliot.
The family would like to thank Dr. Huszar and VNA for the care he received. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Fl 32960.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, October 28th at St Helen Catholic Church.
