Willis Dean Walcher

Former Kansas resident, Willis Dean Walcher, 71, passed away on Wednesday December 7th, 2011 at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, FL.

Mr. Walcher was born August 6th, 1940, in Wellington, KS, to Harold and Mabel Walcher. Dean was a straight shooter and he was able to accomplish anything he set his mind to. He had the biggest heart and would willingly lend a helping had to anyone in need. He loved to tell jokes and reminisce of past times.

Dean married his wife Eileen on October 30th, 1998 in Andover, KS. They moved out to Florida, and currently reside in Fort Pierce. They enjoyed sitting out in the Florida room with friends and neighbors and telling stories and talking "garbage", and also spending time at the beach and enjoying nature. Dean was in construction and built beautiful structures and buildings, along with some remodeling. He had a good reputation with his colleagues after a long 50 plus year career. He enjoyed carpentry. It was his craft; he loved to work with his hands and shared that love by building furniture and household items for his family. His work was timeless and had a style that was as unique as he was. He was also interested in golf, and watching college sports.

He is survived by his wife Eileen in Florida; oldest daughter Jackie Schaefer and husband Gregg in California; son David Robertson and wife Rebecca, California; son Jim Walcher and wife Kim, Oklahoma; daughter Shari Byers, Kansas; daughter Jaime Walcher, Arizona; son Cory Walcher and wife Heather, Kansas; Christina Brown, Kansas; Billy Brown II, Kansas. He was a Grandfather to 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also his 2 little bestest friends, his cats Gabbie and Wiggles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
