Glass
November 26, 1947 – May 29, 2021

Wilma Ann Allison Glass, 73, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021 with family by her side. She was born in Indianapolis, IN and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 2 years having relocated from Indiana. She was a member of Hope United Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, IN. She was a gifted artist, loved swimming, fishing, reading, animals, birds, but most of all, loved all of her grandchildren. Ann was born the fourth of five children to the late Arthur and Juanita Allison. Described as a quiet presence in a large, loud family, Ann was easy to love. She was active in sports and excelled at swimming. Ann graduated from Whiteland Community High School in 1966. Ann began her professional life at Indiana Bell Telephone Company, following in the footsteps of her father. It is there that she met her husband, Paul, whom she was married to for nearly 54 years. Ann spent most of her career working in politics. She loved the excitement that came with it and the people she was able to meet. She made lifelong friends along the way and treasured her time with each of them, especially the Sunday night gatherings at her dear friend Dwight's home. From a young age, Ann loved fishing and being on the water. That love continued throughout her life and she passed that on to her husband and children, often taking summer vacations to Minnesota for a week of fishing on Moose Lake. It is difficult to say what she loved more - the fishing or the sweet sounds of the loons. Ann's love extended beyond her husband, children and grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews all have fond memories of their favorite Aunt Ann and the many things they would do together. She was described as sweet and caring and always took time to spend with them. She also shared a very special bond with Lauren Anne and would often fondly remember being there when Lauren was born. She thought that was a great honor and gladly took the role of "Aunt Ann" to Lauren and, later, her brother, Grant. Perhaps Ann's greatest role in life was that of Grandma. She loved her grandchildren more than anything and did her best to show up to games, school events and graduations even when her health created a challenge. It was important to her to show up. She always spoke about how proud her grandchildren made her and anyone who knew her would know all about what each of the grandchildren were up to at any given time. Without a doubt, Ann left an impression on the hearts of all who knew her and she cherished all of those relationships. She is survived by her husband, Paul Glass of Vero Beach; children, Theresa Moody (Scott), Lawrence Glass (Pamela) and Melissa Mendez (Rick); grandchildren, Kyle, Madelyn, Ethan, Jessica, Ashley, Erica, Josie and Sawyer; brother, Steve Allison, and sisters, Charlotte Copeland, Karen Mills and Ellen Distler. Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach with a virtual service being held simultaneously at Southport Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the VNA Hospice House for the care, respect and compassion shown to Ann. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to the VNA Hospice House, in memory of Ann. |
