WINSTON G. SPEARS

Winston George Spears of Vero Beach, Fl, passed into peaceful rest on June 12, 2012 at Indian River Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. He was born in East Berkshire, Vermont and lived in Florida for 31 years coming from Schenectady, NY where he retired from General Electric. He is survived by the love of his life, as he would
say "his bride" for 70 years, Kathleen Young Spears. He is also survived by his brother Bernard Spears of Manchester, Conn. Kay and Win together raised 6 children-3 daughters and 3 sons. They are Susan Szakall of Miami Beach, FL, Donna Handy and her husband Robert of Dunedin, FL, Thomas Spears of Port St. Lucie, FL, Timothy
Spears and his wi fe Diane of Port St Lucie, FL, Deborah Caulfield of San Antonio, TX, and Steven Spears and his wife Karen of Vero Beach, FL. The couple were blessed with 6 grandchildren: Shelly Moye, Kelly Baker, April Spears, Alexander Caulfield, Erin Mancuso and Nicholas Spears and 6 great-grandchildren: Naomi Moye, Solomon Moye, Michael Baker, Zachary Spears, Kalavati Caulfield and Leo Minato.Winston served in the US Navy in World War II in the South Pacific. He was a life member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion. Mass services will be held on Saturday, June 16th, at 2:00 pm at St. Helen's Cathol ic church, 2085 Tallahassee Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32961. There will be a reception following the mass in the Church Hall. Entombment will be on Sunday, June 17th at 12 noon at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6194 N. US Hwy1, Ft
Pierce, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Helen' s Catholic Church building fund 2 0 8 5 Tallahassee Ave. Vero Beach, FL 32961. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com. Poppy, we will miss you always.
